Adnan Syed. Personally...

The Case of Adnan Syed

In the case of Adnan Syed, based off of information from the hit podcast 'Serial' and other reports from websites such as 'The Guardian' and 'The New York Times', I personally would have to find Adnan Syed guilty of the murer of Have Min Lee.

After listening to the podcast and reading summaries, opinions and other articles on the case, I wish I could believe Syed is innocent but I can't. For me to say I think he is telling the truth when saying he had nothing to do with it, or doesn't remember falling or where he was would be a lie. There are far too many holes and possibilities in this case to come up with a solid time line and conclusion, however it because of these inaccurate timelines that I have a hard time buying his innocence and also why he need be freed. Innocent until proven guilty is how the criminal justice system works and since no one could prove Adnan guilty he is, by default, innocent.

I chose to use a blog post for my media platform of this assignment because it is a more informal way to convey my opinion across and don't have to chose one side (innocent or guilty) and roll with it and prove why etc. With a blog the writer can change hi/her mind and go back to thoughts without making the blog seem illegitimate. that is something you simply cannot do in an essay.

A blog is the perfect media platform for an opinion on something that has as many holes as this case. Yes, I could have chosen to do a podcast however I didn't think it would be appropriate because I don't know that much about the case to start teaching something I'm not an expert in. The blog is a more fluid thought process and remains to be respectful even if it is a little informal at times.
