Serial, a podcast

Serial, an investigative podcast

Why listen to podcasts?

I find that podcasts are extremely beneficial because anything you could want, whether it is to learn a new language, listen to stand-up, or get back up to date on the latest dug up murder trial it is right there for you to download and listen to.

In my opinion the podcast Serial is highly interactive. I enjoyed listening to it, mostly because I am a fan of true crime and unsolved cases. However even if someone who was not interested in those things asked what I had thought of the podcast, I would recommend it to them. Mostly because I think it is just that interesting.

I find that investigative journalism is pretty important in todays age especially since it is so easy to get wrapped up on doing your own thing that you forget there is a whole world around you. I think it is important to take your head out of the grand and look around at what is happening around you to ensure that you don't become so self involved that you complexity forget that other people have things going on in their lives to. I fin that it helps prevent ignorance. Plus, it is very interesting to listen to and even read about in a non-fiction novel, although I find that podcast save time.

Listening to a podcast can be a nice change of pace especially when it comes to school online. When you are forced to sit still and stare at a screen for two hours a day it makes al of the difference when you can just sit back and listen to some talk rather than have to read a huge essay. It definitely adds some interesting variety to the course material. Drawbacks to a podcast however could be that if you had missed something or just wanted to skim through quickly to find a quote or an answer to a question it would be difficult as opposed to simply skimming through a newsletter or something of the sorts.
